The excavations of Saint Sernin

The excavations of the Saint Sernin church, which took place Place de la Mission in Brive when the church was being renovated, gave quite a number of information about the architecture of the successive sanctuaries and about the sepultures found there.

Three major archeological wholes were discovered in the central part of the church: a pilgrim's burial, a bell-shaped kiln and an antique composition well which enclosed a "treasure", thrown there during the religious wars.

The arrangement of the room recalls the archeological structures discovered during the excavations.
