Presentation
Claude DEBUSSY 's piano
The
baby grand piano, made of solid mahogany, that belonged to the composer Claude Debussy is
exhibited on the ground floor of the museum.
 |
M.Bardac, who studied with the musician and was himself a composer, inherited,
at the death of his master and father-in-law in 1918, the copyright of his work and his
piano. This
instrument, made by Blüthner (a piano maker in Leipzig) and dating back to the beginning
of the century has the particularity of being equipped with the "Aliquot"
system. |
Before
it was donated to the state collection it had been kept in Meyssac (Corrèze) since the
second World War which was when M. Bardac settled in the region.
